This is yet another fabulous Facebook page that directly relates to my classroom direction. Julia Childs is an icon in Culinary. This page started in 2009 by Alfred A.Knopf, as well as the foundation for Julia Child and Gastronomy and Culinary Arts. http://www.juliachildfoundation.org  In my classroom we do an entire week on the life and history of Julia Child and how the movie Julie,Juia integrated social media, blogging, and tied the two personas together. The movie is based on a true story, and my students enjoy the path that Julia Childs took in becoming one of the first cooking show hosts.

I find this Facebook page important because I like to keep up on the importance of buying locally and supporting our local growing. This site is maintained by the owner Rick Bayless...but more likely his staff. He expands on my Culinary Compoonats but the buy local is what I mostly get out the site. The following are key sites I will use in my classroom:

We are The Ohio State University Food Safety Team, your home for practical, research-based information about food safety from the farm to the consumer.
I had to add this lastly because I am at heart and will always be an Ohio State Buckeye. I was born not far from the campus just south of lane avenue. I was excited to see that their agriculture school has a specified Facebook Page just on food Safety. This will encourage me to prompt the students to look up the school they are planning on attending to see if they have similar programs. This will tie in to college preparedness and looking ahead at careers in culinary!! Go Bucks!!!

"Germs, or pathogens, that cause food poisoning grow rapidly on warm, humid summer days. Soon, there are enough germs to make your kids sick. Picnics are times for food poisoning to develop unless you plan to have a food safe and good time with the family. For some tips on safe picnics and outdoor dining, check this out!"
